History

1997 – 2000
We have responded to the needs of children and young people spending their free time on the streets of Petržalka. The first activities were conducted in a large tent, gradually we have moved our activities to the premises of the Comenius University, where the first club was set up. Later, the club was incorporated under the Civic Association Nová Nádej Slovensko and moved to Ambroseho street.

2001 – 2004
KASPIAN identified with the principles and methodology of low-threshold programs. We initiated cooperation with the Czech low-threshold programs PVC Blansko, which was followed by the strengthening of the working team. Our services have been extended to field social work. We have released the first preventive leaflets for children. In collaboration with Nadácia mládeže Slovenska (Intenda), we organized long-term training for staff in low-threshold programs in Slovakia.

2005 – 2008
We have published the first publication of its kind in Slovakia, “Low-threshold programs for children and youth – introduction”. We reconstructed the skate park in Petržalka and took on its administration. We became a co-organizer of the International Conference of low-threshold programs for children and young people. We have established our first major cooperation with the corporate partner Linklaters (Kinstellar). We celebrated our 10th anniversary, we became independent and formed the civic association KASPIAN. We became the co-founder of the Association of low-threshold programs for children and youth.

2009 – 2011
We have created the long-term routing strategy of the organization. We have gained accreditation to work with children and young people from the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak republic. The cooperation with the Czech Streetwork Association (ČAS) has broadened; we have become partners in the European project of sharing best practices in field and low-threshold contact services. We commenced the tradition of competitions for bike riders “Concrete Jungle Jam”. We organized and accredited the education project “Alphabet for low-threshold programs for children and youth”.

2012 – 2013
We have created a design manual and website for the projects “Concrete Jungle Jam” (www.cjj.sk) and “PIK-NIK” (www.pik-nik.sk). We have expanded our resources by the area of public collections and self-funding. The education we offer was extended by the course of strategic planning leadership for non-profit organizations. PIK-NIK, a multi-genre event for families with children, was the celebration of our 15th anniversary. In addition to the celebrations we organized an awareness-raising video campaign with celebrities, aimed at the leisure activities of children. We have launched a new website.
